The Amalfi Coast is a specific stretch of southern Italy. Croatia offers several very different coastal regions and islands. To make the comparison useful, put one Croatian itinerary beside one Italian itinerary instead of comparing an entire country with a single coast.
Start with the kind of base you want
For a historic waterfront town, compare the setting of Dubrovnik or Rovinj with the particular Amalfi Coast town you are considering. For an island stay, Hvar introduces different transport requirements.
If you enjoy returning to the same restaurants and walking through town each evening, focus on the hotel's route into the centre. If you want most meals and afternoons at the hotel, focus on its facilities and operating hours instead.
Compare the room, not just the view in the advert
A beautiful coastline does not mean every room faces it. Check the category name, balcony, sightline and bathroom arrangement. On either coast, ask how you reach reception, the swimming area and the nearest restaurants if steps are a concern.
In Croatia, Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, Villa Dubrovnik and Maslina Resort illustrate three different settings: a town-facing coastal hotel, a Dubrovnik coastal address and a resort near Stari Grad. They are alternatives to compare, not equivalents to every Italian hotel.
Beach days need a closer look
Do you want sand, a pebble beach or a platform with steps into deeper water? Ask for the specific hotel's access arrangements and lounger charges. The word beachfront does not tell you whether entry suits your swimming ability or whether the beach is exclusively for guests.
Croatia's coast is on the Adriatic; the Amalfi Coast faces the Tyrrhenian Sea. Neither destination guarantees calm water or suitable swimming conditions throughout a stay.
Compare complete costs
There is no reliable blanket rule that Croatia costs a fixed percentage less. Match travel dates, occupancy, room category, meal plan and cancellation terms. Add airport transfers, ferry journeys where needed, and the experiences you want.

Shortlist Croatia if choosing between islands, coastal cities and Istrian countryside appeals to you. Shortlist the Amalfi Coast if that particular landscape and its towns are the focus of your trip. Decide from a pair of realistic itineraries and current quotes, not a promise of fewer crowds or better value everywhere.
