Ten days gives you nine hotel nights when you leave on day ten. A practical starting point is three nights in Istria, three in Split and three in Dubrovnik. It is a selective route, not a way to see every region. Check flights and the long mainland transfers before booking.
Days 1-3: Istria, three nights
Choose a base in Rovinj if you want the town to be part of everyday life. Compare Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, Hotel Lone and Monte Mulini, paying attention to room categories and age policies.
For a countryside stay, look at Meneghetti near Bale or San Canzian near Buje. This changes your transport needs. Arrange a winery appointment or one countryside outing, leaving time to enjoy the hotel.
Day 4: travel to Split
Treat the move from Istria to Split as a travel day. Obtain a realistic route estimate and transfer quote, including breaks, luggage and any one-way rental costs. A stop may work, but adding a long sightseeing visit can leave little time to settle into the next hotel.
Days 5-6: Split and one optional excursion
A central base such as Cornaro suits time in the old city. Hotel Park and Radisson Blu offer different positions near the coast. Match your choice to how often you want to walk into town.
Use one day for Split and one for a single outing or hotel day. If you choose an island excursion, verify both sailings and the available time ashore. Do not assume a private boat can operate regardless of weather.
Day 7: travel to Dubrovnik
Reserve another transfer day and avoid attaching a time-critical experience to the arrival afternoon. Discuss the road route, stops and expected duration with the provider. Arrival and hotel check-in are not always simultaneous.
Days 8-9: Dubrovnik at an easier pace
Compare Excelsior, Bellevue and Villa Dubrovnik for different coastal settings. Spend one day in the Old Town and leave another open for swimming, a booked excursion or a slower hotel day.
Day 10: departure
Confirm the airport transfer against flight check-in requirements. If your flights do not suit the route, reverse it or reduce the distance covered.
If Hvar is essential
Substitute nights rather than squeezing an extra hotel into an already full plan. A Split-Hvar-Dubrovnik route may suit you better than including Istria, provided seasonal connections fit. Our seven-day itinerary explains the island-transfer considerations.
