Here's the first thing to know: Dubrovnik doesn't do long sandy beaches. What "Private Beach" Means in Dubrovnik
Three formats, all worth understanding before you book:
- Pebble or shingle coves — natural bays reserved for hotel guests, with sunbeds and service. The closest thing to a classic beach.
- Bathing platforms — flat stone or concrete terraces over deep water, with ladders and full sunbed service. No sand, spectacular swimming.
- Beach clubs below the hotel — hotel-operated, sometimes open to outside guests who book cabanas.

Rixos Premium above the Lapad side brings the full-resort formula — pools, spa, multiple restaurants — with sea access at the bathing areas below. The most convenient choice for travelers who want resort amenities and don't mind being a short drive from the Old Town.
Practical Notes Before You Book
- Pack water shoes. Pebbles and rock platforms are the norm — every hotel provides towels and sunbeds, but water shoes make entries graceful.
- Book cabanas ahead in July–August. Front-row beds at the best coves go early; ask the concierge to reserve when you book the room.

Beyond the Hotel Beach
